Fruit Salad

This energizing game is played with a minimum of 8 participants.

Fruit Salad is a group game that requires participants to think and move quickly. At the beginning of the game, the game leader (usually a teacher or activity leader) divides participants into pairs or groups of two or three, each named after a different fruit; for example, some are called 'orange' and others 'banana'. Players sit on chairs in a circle. In the center of the circle stands the tagger.

The objective of the game is for the tagger, when the game leader shouts out the name of a fruit, to try to sit in the chair vacated by a player attempting to switch places with another player of the same fruit group. For example, if the leader says 'orange', all players in the 'orange' group must stand up and try to swap seats with each other, while the tagger attempts to occupy an empty chair during the commotion. If someone fails to find a seat during this movement, they become the new tagger and stand in the center.

When the tagger calls "Fruit Salad," everyone must change seats. However, if the tagger still fails to sit in a chair despite calling "Fruit Salad," they are out of the game. A chair is removed from the circle, and a volunteer becomes the new tagger.
