Jumping Numbers
Jumping Numbers
A fun game that reinforces counting and number order, combining children's math skills with movement. It should be played outdoors.
Objective of the Activity
To develop counting skills,
To learn and reinforce number order,
To practice mathematical operations in a fun way.
The Game
The teacher places large number cards within a designated area. Then, a boundary is drawn around this area.
The teacher says a simple math problem (for example: “What is 4 + 3?”). The child solves the problem and finds the answer.
They then hop forward until they reach the number and stand next to the corresponding number card. If the class size is large, more than one card for the same number can be prepared.
The game continues until all children reach their correct numbers.
Rules:
Players must move only by hopping to reach the number.
The math problem must be solved correctly to go to the right number.
If the class size is large, more than one card for each number should be placed.
Attention!
The hopping area should be safe, and any objects that could cause tripping or slipping should be removed.
Math problems should be chosen at a difficulty level appropriate for the children's age.
