Protect the Tower

Play Area: Schoolyard or open space

Materials Needed: Stones to stack into a tower and a ball

Game Duration: As long as desired.

The Game

In a wide play area, players choose one tagger by counting rhyme. A tower of stones is stacked in the center of the area. The other players form a large circle around the tower.

The tagger’s task is to protect the tower by positioning themselves strategically. The other players pass the ball or make feinting moves and try to knock down the tower by throwing from behind the throwing line. The tagger cannot move the ball away by holding it with their hands or feet; they can only block and close angles to defend.

When the tower is knocked down, the player who threw the ball becomes the new tagger, rebuilds the tower, and takes over defending. The game continues in this cycle with the tagger changing after each knockdown.

At the end of the game, the player who defended their tower the longest (through the most rounds without the tower falling) is declared the winner.
