Shape Dice Race
Shape Dice Race
An active game played with a cardboard dice and rows of shapes placed on the ground, designed to improve attention and matching skills.
Purpose of the Activity
To recognize and distinguish basic geometric shapes (square, triangle, circle, rectangle),
To develop matching, waiting, and instruction-following skills,
To increase motivation through an energetic and fun race.
The Game
A large dice is made out of cardboard. On its sides are drawn: square, triangle, circle, rectangle, “1 step forward” and “1 step back” symbols.

On the ground, four separate tracks are created: one row of squares, one row of triangles, one row of circles, and one row of rectangles. Each track has 6 shapes placed at intervals (start → 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → finish).
Children wait at the start of their tracks. The dice is rolled: if a shape comes up, only the child(ren) on that track move one step forward. If “1 step forward” comes up, all tracks move one step forward; if “1 step back” comes up, all tracks move one step back (those at the starting line cannot go back).
Each round, the dice is rolled by a different child in turn. The first child to reach the end (finish) of their track wins the race.

Rules:
No one moves before the dice result is announced; moves are made only with the teacher’s command.
The “1 step back” move cannot cross the starting line; those at the start remain in place.
If more than one child is on the same track, they may move forward side by side at the same time; no pushing or shoving is allowed.
Attention!
Shapes should be non-slippery, large, and clear (cardboard/mat can be used). The distance between tracks should be wide enough to prevent collisions.
The dice should be made from large, soft material; throws must be controlled. In crowded classes, more than one track for each shape can be created, or children can be divided into groups.
