The Soldier's Horse
Play Area: Schoolyard or an open space
Requirements: None
Game Duration: Can be extended as desired.
The Game
This game is played in a spacious open area or an indoor space with at least four players. The players hold hands to form a circle and start rotating within the circle. While turning, they sing the following rhyme together and perform the corresponding actions:
"The soldier has a horse,
Sit down if I say sit, of course.
Stand up if I say stand,
Curl up when I demand.
Spread wide when I decree,
Clap your hands, one, two, three.
Stamp your feet, tap, tap,
The lion roars,
The tiger snaps,
One, two, three, freeze in your tracks!"
Each action in the rhyme is performed as described; for example, when "sit" is mentioned, everyone crouches down; when "stand" is said, everyone stands up; when "curl" is called, everyone crouches into a small ball; and when "spread" is announced, everyone stretches wide. During "Clap your hands," hands are clapped twice, and during "Stomp your feet," feet are stomped twice. At the end of the rhyme, when "one, two, three, freeze" is called, everyone must freeze in place. Any player who makes a mistake or reacts too late is eliminated, and the game continues with the remaining players.
This game, which lasts approximately 10 minutes, is a fun activity that enhances rhythm, coordination, and attention skills.
