Word Station
Word Station
An active game that develops vocabulary, supports quick thinking, and reinforces the ability to categorize. It should be played outdoors.
Objective of the Activity
To enrich vocabulary,
To improve quick thinking and decision-making skills,
To support categorization and listening comprehension skills.
The Game
The four corners of the play area are designated as stations/categories (for example: “Fruits, Animals, Colors, Objects”).
The teacher says a letter (for example: “B”). Each child thinks of a word starting with that letter.
The child runs to the category station that matches their word and says the word out loud at the station. Any child who goes to the wrong category or cannot find a word within 5 seconds returns to the center and waits for one round.
Once all children have reached their stations, a new round begins with a different letter.

Rules:
The word said must match the chosen category.
To avoid collisions while running, stay in your lane and take turns.
More than one child may say the same word; what matters is going to the correct category.
Attention!
The station corners should be clearly marked, and any obstacles that increase the risk of slipping or falling should be removed from the area.
Letters and categories should be appropriate for the age group; instead of difficult-to-pronounce words, choose examples that children encounter in daily life.
